Baidu search box to be embedded in Chinese mobiles

CHINESE search giant, Baidu is looking to put its own search box on the screens of mobile phones in China, as it continues to expand into the mobile market.

The search engine is in dialogue with China’s mobile phone makers over embedding a search box in their handsets. The business is targeting a variety of mobile platforms including phones using Google’s Android operating system and speculation also includes suggestions that Baidu will develop its own mobile operating system.

With embedded search tools Baidu will seek to consolidate its domination of the Chinese search engine market with a 70 per cent share versus Google's 24 per cent.
